Just a Few Friends Easter Basket Hop

Happy March everyone!! To all my fellow Christians...Happy Ressurection Day.This is such a PURRFECT time of year. I love the idea of spring being connected to the resurrection. Everything is coming back to life, the newness of the season as well as the return of our Lord and Savior who lives within. It's also a wonderful time to rid ourselves of past hurt, frustrations, disappoints, etc. Let's spring clean and resurrect ourselves to having a new beginning.

I had trouble with this project a bit because I didn't need a basket for Easter. I have a son, and well, let's just say my style of designing will not go over well with him. I purchased him a soccer ball basket months ago. I decided to create a basket for myself, but load it with books that teaches my son about our Lord and Savior. Neo loves to read and be read to, so the contents are great for us all, but the basket is all mine. LOL!

So after hours of PROWLING around in my den, looking for items for my project,  I decided to go with a shabby chic theme,(no surprise) because that's my favorite design style and I think I am pretty good at it. I started with a basic natural wicker basket. I spray painted it pale pink and then lined it with an old curtain I found in the closet that doesn't fit any of the windows in our home. The lace was just too pretty to be hiding in the back of the closet, so I gave it a new life. I also used a fabric floral spray that came off of a  child's dress I bought at goodwill last year. I loved the lace on the dress and will one day use it in a project. Next, I add some sparkly tool, silver and pink beads, I am roses flowers, and bloomer flowers to the sides. Finally, a few eggs and books that teaches about our Lord and Savior and it is complete. I plan to find a book that specifically teaches the resurrection in terminology young children can understand. Closer to Easter, the eggs will be filled with goodies, scriptures, and intrinsic rewards for Neo such as a trip to the bowling alley, go watch the airplanes take off, dinner of your choice, etc.

I hope you enjoy my little faith based, shabby chic basket.  Now pounce on over to Violets channel to see what she is up to. Remember if you started with me, go back to Elsa and start at the beginning. You don't want to miss out on any wonderful projects.

Have a safe and wonderful Easter everyone.
